Alexander in UK

Hey! So Glad You're Here.

My name is Alexander, a German guy who lives, works and sails in Dubai. Since I am young, I have a great passion for adventures and sailing.

Please follow me on my next journey sailing with Clipper and Team Qingdao from Cape Town to Pearth through the Roaring Forties in the Southern Ocean. The Mount Everest for Sailors!

In the fourth leg of the race, we will sail around the south of Australia. From Western Australia, out of the Indian Ocean and back to the challenge of the Roaring Forties and directly into the infamous Tasman Straits, finishing at the outstanding, most beautiful Whitsunday Islands. Here, it's time for me to step off board, return to work, and follow my Team Qingdao online.

The crew will continue the Asia Pacific challenge and cross the Equator again. A trip passing through the doll drums and most likely followed some spectacular storms and passing squalls. The fleet will then race to Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam, and Zhuhai, China. From there, the journey continues into the East China Sea and points towards the Olympic sailing city of Qingdao, China, which is also very popular for the Qingdao Beer. Who knew that Qingdao was once in a time a German colony?

From Qingdao, the Team will continue a 6000 nautical miles long race through the very challenging Pacific, where waves pick up the 70-foot yacht and allow it to surf at 30 knots down into the trough ahead.

On Leg 7, I was lucky again and got the opportunity to join the race again. Leg 7 begins on the west coast of America, Seattle and heads straight out into the Pacific Ocean and goes down to one of the world's engineering wonders: the Panama Canal. This is another challenging leg where Central America typically brings high temperatures and very light winds.

This is a real test of the crew and the yacht racing skills. Once we pass through the Panama Canal, the race will continue sailing to the playground of the Caribbean, which is not only known for its beautiful and stunning beaches but also for tropical heat, trade winds and squalls. Our final destination will be Washington, D.C., where I have to say goodbye again and wish the Team a final bullet for the last leg back to the U.K.
